 Top Tips for Bird Keepers

Change drinking water daily and make sure container is not under a perch!

Provide a fresh non toxic branch daily to provide a 'project' for your birds

Always buy the biggest cage you can afford - birds are designed to fly!

Fresh greens daily are appreciated - puha, groundsel, dandelions, seeding grasses etc

Avoid draughts and high temps near the cage

Never use dowelling or plastic perches - use natural non toxic branches and change at least monthly

Buy a good quaility seed mix and supplement with other foods - remember that birds husk their seeds leaving 'empties' in the dish

Don't leave birds unattended over weekends or holidays - they need daily care

Read the article below about environmental enrichments and always make sure your birds have plenty to do

Avoid keeping birds alone wherever possible especially finches, budgies, canaries and cockatiels. These birds live in flocks of hundreds in the wild.
